Qantas and its employees will have their disputes decided by Fair Work Australia after union talks fail. Qantas chief, Alan Joyce, said that Fair Work Australia’s binding arbitration could take a number of months and that it was the best move after 21 days of fruitless talks since the airline was grounded.

Industrial action was banned three weeks ago when Fair Work Australia acted after Qantas grounded its fleet, with any contraventions being subject to large fines.
