Jim Parke is a barrister and solicitor of the Supreme Courts of Victoria and the Australian Capital Territory and a solicitor of the Supreme Court of Queensland and the High Court of Australia. He is also a barrister and solicitor of the High Court of New Zealand. He holds a Bachelor of Laws, a Master of Laws, a Master of Jurisprudence and a Graduate Diploma of Applied Corporate Governance. Mr Parke is a registered tax agent(registration number 24820107) and a Certified Practising Accountant.
Jim Parke has been Managing Director of Parke Lawyers since 1994 and Armstrong Lawyers from January 2015. Mr Parke has extensive experience and expertise in commercial litigation, corporate governance, employment law and intellectual property and is an Accredited Specialist in Business Law. He was named Commercial Litigation Lawyer of the Year for Australia in the ACQ5 Law Awards 2014.
Mr Parke is a member of the Law Institute of Victoria, a fellow of the Australian Institute of Company Directors, a fellow of the Institute of Chartered Secretaries and Administrators, a fellow of the Governance Institute of Australia and a fellow of the Australian Institute of Management. He is also a member of the Planning Institute of Australia and a member of the Australian College of Educators.
Jim Parke is a community member of the Adult Parole Board of Victoria. He was Mayor of the City of Boroondara (in Melbourne’s inner-east) in 2015-16 and represents Bellevue Ward on the Council. He is chairperson of the Urban Planning Special Committee.
Strongly community-minded, Jim Parke is the only Australian ever to hold the office of President of Crime Stoppers International. He has also previously served as Chairman of Crime Stoppers Australia, Chairman of Crime Stoppers Queensland, President of the Victims of Crime Association of Queensland and Deputy Chairman of Volunteering Australia. He is a past President of the Victorian Division of the Institute of Mercantile Agents.
