Recent Developments in Retirement Village Law
On 1 July 2014, the Retirement Villages Act 1986 (Vic) and Regulations were amended. In brief, the changes, create a new two stage process for disclosure by retirement villages to prospective retirees. This process includes providing a Fact Sheet, Resident Contract, Disclosure Statement and any Management Contracts and village rules and by-laws. The new regulations also specify the matters that must be included (and those that cannot be included) in a Residence Contract or a Management Contract.
