The Breadtop bakery franchise has entered into a Proactive Compliance Deed with the Fair Work Ombudsman. The Fair Work Ombudsman had previously received a small number of complaints from employees who believed that they were being underpaid.
Under the Deed, Breadtop committed to ensure its compliance with workplace laws and correct any discrepancies that may be identified.
The self-audit process will involve franchisees reviewing the pay packets of up to 10% of the company’s workforce to ensure that employees are being paid the correct wages and entitlements. The franchisees will be required to provide the results of the audits to the Fair Work Ombudsman together with the steps that they have taken to rectify any contraventions identified.
