Coles industrial dispute at the Supreme Court
An industrial dispute at a Coles warehouse in Melbourne has escalated, with the site's managers making an application to the Supreme Court of Victoria for an injunction to stop a blockade by workers.
The workers had previously won the right from Fair Work Australia to continue picketing outside Cole's Somerton warehouse. Members of the National Union of Workers have blocked trucks from entering or leaving the Coles warehouse since Tuesday as they fight for better pay and conditions.
However, the manager of the site, Toll Group, hopes to end the blockade by applying for the injunction, which will be heard on Saturday. Toll Group previously argued at the Fair Work hearing on Friday that the picket constituted unfair conduct and undermined the process of collective bargaining.
